Terms of Use

Terms of use and end user license agreement (EULA) for the "Matchmade" app (iOS and Android). Last updated: 12 October 2026. The German version is authoritative.

1. Provider and scope

Matchmade is provided by Codext GmbH, Frankenstraße 10, 74549 Wolpertshausen, Germany, email: kontakt@codext.de ("we", "us"). These terms apply to your use of the Matchmade app and all related features. How we handle your data is explained in the Privacy Policy.

2. Agreement

By creating an account you accept these terms, and a user agreement is concluded between you and us. If you do not agree, please do not use Matchmade.

3. Who may use Matchmade

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You may have only one account, and it must be your own. Accounts for other people, couples or businesses are not allowed.
  • You may not use Matchmade if we have previously banned your account for a violation.
  • Your information must be true. Your photos must show you and be current.
  • Keep access to your account to yourself. You are responsible for everything that happens through your account.

4. License to use the app

We grant you a simple, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable right to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices that you own or control. You may not sell, rent, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the app, unless the law expressly allows it. Automated access, for example by bots or scrapers, is prohibited. All rights in the app, in Mira, the archetypes, texts and designs remain with us.

5. Additional terms for the Apple App Store

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. In addition:

  1. These terms are concluded only between you and Codext GmbH, not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
  2. Your license is limited to use on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. The app may also be used by other accounts associated with the purchaser via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
  3. We are solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the app.
  4. We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, for the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are our responsibility.
  5. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
  6. In the event of any third-party claim that the app or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  7. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  8. You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app, for example your mobile data contract.
  9. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Upon your acceptance of these terms, Apple will have the right, and will be deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

6. Additional terms for Google Play

If you downloaded the app from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. These terms are concluded only between you and us, not with Google.

7. Your content

Photos, texts, answers to Mira and messages you post in Matchmade remain yours. You grant us a simple, worldwide, royalty-free right to store them, adapt them technically (for example resize photos), moderate them, process them with AI and show them to other users, to the extent needed to operate Matchmade. This right ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we have to keep to handle reports or for legal reasons (see the Privacy Policy). You confirm that you hold the necessary rights to your content and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. You may only upload photos of other people if they agree.

8. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

Matchmade has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for users who harass or endanger others. Anyone who breaks these rules is banned. In particular, the following are prohibited:

  • nudity, pornographic or sexually explicit content, including in messages, and sending sexual content without consent;
  • any content that shows, sexualizes or endangers minors, and any attempt to contact minors;
  • harassment, bullying, stalking, intimidation and threats;
  • hate speech and discrimination, for example based on origin, skin color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age;
  • depictions of violence, glorifying or calling for violence or self-harm;
  • scams, romance scams, asking for money, gifts, gift cards or crypto, and phishing;
  • spam, links to other services for promotional purposes and any commercial use, advertising or solicitation;
  • offering sexual services for money and other forms of solicitation;
  • fake profiles, other people's photos and impersonating someone else;
  • publishing other people's personal information without their consent;
  • any other illegal content or conduct.

9. Moderation, reports and bans

  • Photos and messages are automatically checked by AI before they are published or delivered. Objectionable content is rejected or blocked.
  • On every profile and in every chat you can report and block the person. A report also blocks the person and ends an existing match.
  • We review every report ourselves and act within 24 hours: we remove objectionable content and ban users who violate these terms. Reports involving minors are handled immediately.
  • We report illegal content to the competent authorities. We always report child sexual abuse material (see Child safety).
  • Even without an account, you can report illegal content to us by email at kontakt@codext.de.
  • If we remove your content or ban your account, we tell you, where the law requires it and it does not put others at risk. If you think a decision was wrong, write to us and a human will review it again.

10. Meeting people and safety

Matchmade brings people together. We do not verify the identity or background of our users and cannot guarantee that profile information is true. You are responsible for who you chat with and who you meet. Meet in a public place the first time, tell someone you trust, arrange your own transport and never send money. More tips are under Meeting safely. If someone is in danger, call your local emergency number (112 in Europe).

11. AI features

Mira, the archetypes, the Vibe profile, compatibility scores, "Why you two", conversation starters and the Vibe Check are generated in whole or in part by AI. This content can be inaccurate or wrong. It is suggestions and entertainment, not a guarantee that you are compatible or that you will get a match, and not psychological, medical or other professional advice. Check the suggested bio and prompts before you use them; you are responsible for your profile. AI moderation can also make mistakes. If you think a decision was wrong, write to us and a human will review it.

12. Pricing

Matchmade is currently free and contains no purchases. If we offer paid features later, separate terms will apply, and we will inform you about them beforehand. You will never be charged without placing an explicit order.

13. Availability

We work to keep Matchmade reliable but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, updates or outages may limit the service at times. How many people are suggested to you in the Drop or in Discover depends on how many suitable people near you use Matchmade. There is no entitlement to a certain number of suggestions or matches. We may develop, change or discontinue features as long as your legitimate interests are respected.

14. Termination and bans

  • You can end the agreement at any time without notice by deleting your account in the app under You → Settings → Delete account or by writing to us (see Delete account). Deleting the app does not end the agreement.
  • If you violate these terms, in particular section 8, we may remove content, ban your account immediately and without prior notice, and terminate the agreement without notice.
  • Otherwise, we may terminate the agreement with two weeks' notice, for example if we discontinue Matchmade.

15. Liability

  1. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where we have given a guarantee.
  2. In cases of slight negligence, we are only liable for breach of an essential contractual obligation, meaning an obligation whose fulfillment makes the proper performance of the agreement possible in the first place and on whose compliance you may regularly rely. In this case our liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of agreement.
  3. Otherwise our liability is excluded. We are only liable for the conduct of other users, online or when meeting, where we ourselves are at fault under paragraphs 1 and 2.
  4. These provisions also apply in favor of our employees, representatives and agents. Your statutory rights as a consumer remain unaffected.

16. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms if Matchmade, the law or app store requirements change. We inform you about changes in the app in good time before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can object and delete your account at any time. Changes that significantly affect the balance of what we provide and what you give in return only apply with your explicit consent.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer and your habitual residence is in another country, the mandatory consumer protection laws of that country remain unaffected. If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the place of jurisdiction is, where legally permissible, the registered office of Codext GmbH.

18. Consumer dispute resolution

We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

19. Final provisions

If any provision of these terms is invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid. The invalid provision is replaced by the statutory rule.
