Child Safety Standards
Our standards
Matchmade is a dating app for adults. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and for any form of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) on our service. This includes any content that sexualizes minors, grooming, sextortion, trafficking, and any attempt to contact, meet or exploit a minor. Anyone who violates these standards is banned permanently, and we report them to the authorities.
18+ only and age assurance
- Matchmade is only for people aged 18 and over. This is stated in our Terms of Use.
- Everyone has to enter their date of birth during setup. If the date shows that someone is under 18, the account is rejected and setup cannot be completed.
- Our AI photo moderation checks every photo before it is stored and rejects photos that appear to show minors, as well as nudity and sexual content.
- Reports with the reason "Underage" are reviewed with priority.
- Accounts suspected of belonging to a minor are suspended immediately pending review. If the suspicion is confirmed, we delete the account.
Detection and moderation
- AI moderation checks every photo before it is stored and every message before it is delivered. It blocks sexual content, harassment and scams, and rejects photos that appear to show minors.
- A human reviews every report. We act on reports within 24 hours, and immediately when they involve child sexual abuse or exploitation.
- Our team removes violating content, bans the accounts involved and takes steps to keep banned people from returning with a new account.
How to report
- In the app: tap the menu on any profile or in any chat, choose Report and select the reason "Underage". The report also blocks the person.
- By email to kontakt@codext.de, also without an account. Please include the person's first name and city and a short description. Do not send us images that show abuse; describe them instead and tell us where you saw them.
If a child is in immediate danger, call emergency services right away (112 in Europe, 911 in the USA, otherwise your local emergency number).
What we do
- We remove the content and permanently ban the accounts involved.
- We preserve relevant evidence as required by law so that law enforcement can investigate.
- We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline and/or to the competent national authorities, in Germany the police or the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt, BKA).
- We cooperate with law enforcement and respond to lawful requests.
Compliance with child safety laws
We comply with applicable child safety laws, including German criminal law and the reporting obligations that apply to us. Our moderation and reporting processes are designed to detect, remove and report CSAM and CSAE without delay.
